Well, it's over now. I just watched the end of the "Fall Classic". The Cleveland Indians lost to the Florida Marlins, a team which didn't even exist the last time the Indians were in the series. A great series for baseball... But now we're into a great season for the SCROOMtimes. This is an issue chock-full of great stuff! First, We're welcoming two new contributors this issue - both women! Samantha King weighs in for a little advice to us guys (I think we're getting a hint here, guys). And Molly Degnan has reviewed Oliver Stone's newest oeuvre for us. In addition, we have our regular columns - Skippy looks at Losers, a subject near and dear to his so-called heart. Fiona Jane has some thoughts about lists, and Pelican, our Geek Lord, writes about his adventures in the Land of Geeks. In sports, Dave Lind bemoans his fate as a Raider fan in "The View From the Cheap Seats", while Dean bitches about the idiots who make decisions about what football games to broadcast. Meanwhile, the Professor weighs in with an opinion (him? have an OPINION? Nah...) on the Pete Rose issue... an opinion that this magazine shares, by the way. And, if that wasn't enough, we have two special features. Pelican Smith has a companion piece to his normal column, a discussion of what computer scurity means to you - that is, if you use them seriously, or have a computer network. And, we let Skippy out of his closet to give us a puff piece - he interviews our very own Editor-In-Chief, Dean Shutt. |
